What we do

Everything a garden needs, one Surrey team.

From full design-and-build transformations to paving, driveways, decking, planting and the year-round aftercare that keeps it all right — Surrey Landscapers has covered the lot across Reigate and Surrey since 1980, as certified RHS members.

Garden Design & Full Landscaping

When a garden needs more than a tidy-up, we take it back to the bones and rebuild it around how you actually use the plot. As certified RHS members we design the horticulture as carefully as the hard landscaping — groundwork and levels first, then paving, structures, lawns and planting, one team carrying the whole project. One Reigate client watched a scruffy, tiered and uneven space become, in her words, a beautiful, level courtyard oasis.

Paving & Patios

Patios set the frame for everything else. We lay natural stone, sandstone and porcelain to falls that drain properly, with edges cut clean and joints done right — built to sit level and look good for years, not to lift and rock after the first winter. One client had us build a large patio through the winter months and called the finished result a credit to our work.

03Service

Driveways

A driveway takes more punishment than any other surface in the garden, so the base underneath it matters more than the surface on top. We excavate, lay and consolidate the sub-base properly, then finish in block paving, gravel or natural stone to suit the house — set to drain, edged to hold, and built to carry the weight without rutting or spreading.

04Service

Turfing & New Lawns

A new lawn is only as good as the ground it goes on. We prepare and level the base, then lay quality turf so it roots and lasts. One family told us we turfed much more than we had originally quoted for, and added extra soil to their nearby plant areas while we were at it — the sort of going-beyond that keeps a garden right.

05Service

Decking & Garden Rooms

A raised deck, a shaded pergola or a garden room turns an awkward corner into somewhere you actually spend time. We frame decking on properly set posts so it stays level and safe, and build structures square and weathertight — chosen and sized to suit the garden they sit in rather than dropped in as an afterthought.

06Service

Fencing & Boundaries

Boundaries make or break how a garden looks and feels. We build fencing as part of the wider scheme — posts set properly so they hold in Surrey clay and wind, lines run straight, and the style chosen to suit the garden it frames rather than fought against it.

07Service

Planting & Bed Creation

The planting is where a design comes to life, and it is where our RHS membership earns its keep. We set out borders and beds to suit the soil and aspect, shape and maintain hedges, and plant or reshape trees — with honest advice on what will actually thrive where, so the garden fills out and matures the way it should.

Garden Maintenance & Aftercare

A garden we have built is worth looking after, and aftercare is how it reaches its best. We offer regular grass-cutting, hedge-trimming, weeding, pruning and seasonal attention — private gardens and the outdoor spaces of local community groups alike — so the garden goes on developing and flourishing through the seasons rather than drifting back to where it started.

Materials & finishes

Chosen to last, not just to look good on day one.

Good landscaping is as much about the base you don't see as the surface you do. Here is what we tend to reach for, and why.

Natural stone & sandstone

Riven and sawn sandstone for patios and paths with a warm, natural finish — laid to falls so water runs off, not back toward the house.

Porcelain paving

Hard-wearing, low-maintenance porcelain for a crisper, contemporary look — near-zero staining and colour-stable through the seasons.

Timber & composite decking

Decking framed on properly set posts so it stays level and safe underfoot — timber for warmth, composite where low upkeep matters most.

Planting to suit soil & aspect

Borders, hedging and trees chosen — with certified RHS judgement — for the light and soil they will actually live in, so they mature the way they should.

How it works

Design, build, aftercare — one team.

The full process

01

Design & consultation

We come out, walk the plot with you and listen to how you actually live in the garden — sun, slope, drainage, the lot. Then we put a clear design and a no-obligation quote to it. Chris keeps you updated at every stage and gives you real options to decide between, rather than one take-it-or-leave-it plan.

02

Build

One crew carries the construction from groundwork and levels through hard landscaping, paving, structures and planting. We work tidy, explain each step in advance, and — as our reviews put it — often end up doing more than was quoted for. Larger transformations can run over several weeks; we keep the site orderly the whole way through.

03

Aftercare

A new garden is an investment, and it needs looking after to reach its best. Once the build is done we can keep it right — seasonal maintenance, lawn care and planting attention — so the garden goes on developing and maturing through the seasons rather than drifting back to where it started.

Before you call

Questions we're asked most.

Do you charge for a design consultation or quote?

No. The first consultation and the quote that follows are free and come with no obligation. We come out, walk the garden with you, listen to how you use it and then put a clear design and price to it — whether it's a single patio or a full transformation. You're under no pressure to go ahead.

What does RHS membership actually mean for me?

Being certified Royal Horticultural Society members means the horticulture behind your garden is held to a recognised standard, not just the paving. In practice it means honest, informed advice on what will thrive in your soil and aspect, and planting chosen to mature well rather than just look full on day one.

Do you only do big projects, or smaller jobs too?

Both. We take on full design-and-build transformations, but we also lay a single patio, build a driveway, put up a fence, turf a lawn or come back for regular maintenance. Plenty of clients start with one job and keep us on afterwards.

How long does a garden project take?

It depends entirely on the scope — a new lawn might be a day or two, a patio a week or so, and a full transformation several weeks. One of our steep-garden projects ran to twelve weeks. We'll give you a realistic timescale with your quote and keep the site orderly throughout.

Can you handle sloping or awkward gardens?

Very much so. A good deal of our work is on tiered, steep or uneven plots — building in the levels, drainage and structure a flat finish needs. One client's garden went from scruffy, tiered and uneven to a level courtyard oasis.

Can you look after the garden once it's built?

Yes, and it's worth doing. A new garden is an investment that reaches its best with care, so we offer ongoing maintenance — the same people who built it keeping it right, so it goes on developing and maturing through the seasons.

Not sure what the garden needs?

That's what the free consultation is for. We'll walk the garden with you, tell you straight what's involved, and put a clear plan and price to it.
